East St Louis, IL (November 27, 2020) – A man was killed after being struck by a motor vehicle in East St. Louis on Friday morning, November 27.
The deadly pedestrian accident took place on Interstate 55 near milepost five. The 26-year-old man was standing in the left lane of the interstate when he was hit by an oncoming vehicle. Emergency responders were dispatched to the site of the crash.
The injured pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Multiple lanes on the highway were closed while first responders were present. The identity of the deceased party has not been revealed at this time.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is currently underway.
