Chicago, IL (March 25, 2020) – A woman has been arrested in connection with a drunk driving collision that left three people injured, including two Chicago police officers, in the Avondale neighborhood on Tuesday, March 24th. At around 4:20 a.m., Shannon Ohara, 32, struck a CPD vehicle at the 3400 block of West Belmont Avenue. Ohara was allegedly speeding in a Chevy Equinox when she hit a patrol vehicle turning onto Belmont Avenue.

Both officers in the patrol car were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. A 41-year-old passenger in Ohara’s vehicle was transported to Swedish Covenant Hospital following the crash. This story is still developing.

Alcohol is believed to have played a role in the crash. CPD is currently investigating the accident.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

We all know how dangerous drinking and driving can be. Regardless, there are still too many drivers who choose to get behind the wheel intoxicated. In Illinois, 330 people in the state were killed in alcohol-related crashes in 2017.

Nearly one-fourth of all crashes involve a drunk driver. These crashes are catastrophic, leaving innocent victims suffering most. Injured parties can pursue lost compensation with the help of a qualified Chicago DUI crash attorney.

Kent M. Lucaccioni, Ltd. is here to help you obtain the compensation you need to recover after an accident. We believe in helping those unfairly injured by a reckless driver. Call us today at 877-930-2551 to see how we can help.
