Deadly Rear-End Crashes in Illinois

Will Co, IL - Sarah Wise Killed in Two-Car Collision on I-80

Rear-end crashes are the most commonly reported type of collision according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. In fact, nearly 29% of reported crashes involve rear-end impacts, with an estimated 1.7 million rear-end crashes occurring each year. These accidents contribute to the deaths of roughly 1,700 people, and an average of 500,000 people are injured in rear-end crashes each year.

The grief and devastation of losing a loved one due to another’s negligence are nearly unbearable. Surviving family members often take on damages resulting from the accident, and they may be able to recover lost compensation by pursuing a wrongful death claim with the help of an experienced Illinois personal injury attorney. In an Illinois wrongful death claim, a representative of the decedent’s estate — usually a close family member — seeks damages from those at fault for the person’s death to obtain compensation for damages.
