St Clair Co, IL (November 21, 2020) – A pedestrian was fatally struck in St. Clair County on Wednesday evening, November 18, according to reports from the Illinois State Police.
Initial reports revealed that a silver 2008 Saturn Outlook was traveling eastbound on IL-159 near Hollywood Heights Road when the vehicle struck a man crossing the roadway. The man was reportedly in the middle-left lane when he was hit. The injured pedestrian was transported to a local medical facility where he was later pronounced dead.
The deceased victim was later identified as 73-year-old Joseph J. Maly. The Saturn was driven by 37-year-old Kerry Douglass, and her vehicle had three passengers at the time of the deadly accident. No further updates on the fatal crash are currently available.
An ongoing investigation into the accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
