Naples, IL (November 28, 2020) – An Illinois man was killed following a two-vehicle collision involving a semi-truck near Naples on Thanksgiving Day, November 26.
Local sources revealed that the deadly crash occurred near the intersection of US-41 and Old Trail Drive at around 2 a.m. that morning. According to local reports, 27-year-old Zachary Plantz was driving a Mercedes southbound on US-41 at the time of the accident. For unknown reasons, Plantz collided with the rear of a semi-truck that was in the process of making a U-turn on the highway.
Plantz suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was later pronounced dead. The cause of the crash is still unknown at this time. No updates on the deadly collision have been provided at this time.
An ongoing investigation into the accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
