Deadly High-Speed Crashes in Illinois
Drivers who speed are more likely to be involved in catastrophic collisions. When drivers exceed the speed limit, they are less able to control their vehicles and avoid serious car accidents. Each year, thousands of people are killed in high-speed crashes. Over the past twenty years, speeding has been a factor in nearly one-third of deadly collisions in the United States. A total of 9,378 people were killed in high-speed crashes in 2018 alone.
