Trucking Accidents in Illinois
Truck drivers are often pushed to meet tight deadlines, causing them to make critical errors behind the wheel. This means that the chances of being involved in an accident are increased significantly. An estimated 5,000 people are killed annually in trucking accidents in the United States. There were 12,267 trucking collisions reported in Illinois in 2018 alone, accounting for nearly 3.8% of reported traffic accidents that year.
Large semi-trucks can cause catastrophic injuries in the event of a collision with a passenger vehicle. Truck-driver inexperience is a leading cause of deadly commercial vehicle accidents as companies are trying to fill positions due to a shortage of drivers, and this negligence contributes to serious crashes involving 18-wheelers and commercial vehicles. When the negligence of another driver results in a crash, injured victims should consult with an Illinois trucking injury lawyer in order to recover lost compensation by pursuing a personal injury claim.
