Chicago, IL – Officer Injured by Driver at Maple St & State St

Chicago, IL (November 5, 2020) – An officer with the Chicago Police Officer suffered injuries after being struck by another driver fleeing the scene of a traffic stop in the Gold Coast neighborhood on Tuesday, November 3. 

Authorities reportedly ordered that 23-year-old Anthony Sheko exit his Dodge Charger at the intersection of Maple Street and State Street. The officer told Sheko to exit his vehicle when the driver reversed.  Sheko then proceeded to ram the officer into a nearby flower bed while attempting to flee the scene. 

Authorities reportedly found a gun underneath one of the seats in Sheko’s vehicle. Sheko and his passenger, 29-year-old Asia Spann, were arrested for possession of a controlled substance. The struck officer was hospitalized for the treatment of sustained injuries. 

An ongoing investigation into the accident is currently underway.
