Chicago, IL – Firefighter Injured Fighting Blaze on N Winthrop Ave

Chicago, IL (November 9, 2020) – A Chicago firefighter sustained injuries while fighting a blaze in the Edgewater area on the city’s North Side on Saturday, November 7. 

The site of the fire was located at a residence in the 5600 block of N. Winthrop Avenue. First responders and local firefighters were called to the scene to render aid to those involved. Local sources revealed that the blaze was extinguished at around 3:23 a.m. that morning. 

One firefighter present at the scene was transported to a nearby hospital for the treatment of sustained injuries. The extent of the resulting injuries is not known at this time. No other injuries were reported at the scene. 

An ongoing investigation into the incident is currently in progress.
