Annawan, IL (November 21, 2020) – Two drivers were killed following a three-vehicle collision in Annawan on Saturday morning, November 21.
The deadly car accident reportedly occurred on Interstate 80 at around 12:12 a.m. that morning. Local reports revealed that a Chicago driver was traveling westbound on the highway in a 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo at the time of the accident. For unknown reasons, the vehicle traveled into the eastbound lanes and collided head-on with a 2004 Cadillac DeVille driven by a man from Peru, Illinois.
A 2013 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by 42-year-old Ryszard Kustwan of Justice, Illinois was unable to stop and struck both vehicles. The drivers of both vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene. Kustwan was uninjured in the collision.
An ongoing investigation into the accident is currently underway.
