Alexander Co, IL (November 7, 2020) – A bicycle accident in Alexander County involving a motor vehicle left one Olive Branch man dead on Thursday, November 5.
Initial reports revealed that the crash occurred at around 6:01 a.m. that morning near the intersection of IL-3 and Airport Road. According to local reports, 58-year-old David Coleson of Olive Branch was riding a bicycle southbound on IL-3 at the time of the crash. At the same time, a 2004 white Chevrolet pickup truck driven by 54-year-old Dennis Bingham of Olive Branch was also traveling south on the highway.
While the pickup was attempting to pass the cyclist, the rider attempted to make a left-hand turn for unknown reasons. The truck then struck the bicycle. Coleson sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. No further information on the deadly accident is currently available.
An ongoing investigation into the accident is currently in progress.
