Sterling, IL (October 28, 2020) – One person was killed and another injured following a two-vehicle collision in Sterling on Monday, October 26.
The site of the crash was reportedly located near the intersection of IL-40 and Science Ridge Road. Emergency responders and law enforcement officials were called to the scene at around 3:19 p.m. that afternoon. According to local reports, a passenger car collided with a semi-truck at the intersection.
For unknown reasons, a Chevrolet traveling eastbound on W. Science Ridge Road disobeyed a stop sign near IL-40. The vehicle was struck in the passenger side by a northbound semi-trailer. The passenger in the Chevrolet was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Chevy was hospitalized and cited for failure to obey a stop sign. An ongoing investigation into the crash is currently in progress.
