Richland Co, IL (October 10, 2020) – A man was killed following a head-on crash in Richland County on Wednesday, October 7.
According to initial reports, a 2001 green Nissan driven by 28-year-old Richard Reed of Mount Carmel, Illinois was traveling eastbound on US-50, west of Prairieton Road, at the time of the crash. At the same time, a 2009 white Volvo tractor-trailer driven by 70-year-old Raymond Kempt of Montgomery, Indian was traveling west on the highway.
For unknown reasons, Reed’s vehicle crossed into westbound traffic and collided head-on with the Volvo. Both vehicles left the roadway due to the collision. Reed suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead. No other injuries have been reported at this time.
An ongoing investigation into the accident is currently in progress.
We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family of Richard Reed at this time.
