Prospect Heights, IL (October 1, 2020) – A box-truck accident in the Prospect Heights area left two people killed on Wednesday morning, September 30.
The accident reportedly took place near the intersection of Wolf Road and Messner Drive at around 7:30 a.m. According to local authorities, a box truck was traveling east when it failed to obey a stop sign at the intersection. The truck then struck an oncoming sport-utility vehicle.
The impact of the crash caused the SUV to crash through a fence before coming to a rest near the Chicago Executive Airport. A passenger of the box truck was ejected in the accident and thrown onto the roadway. That passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the box truck sustained serious injuries and was transported to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois for treatment. The driver of the SUV sustained fatal injuries in the accident.
The identities of the involved parties have not been revealed. An ongoing investigation into the crash is underway.
