East Hannibal, IL (October 20, 2020) – Two people suffered injuries following a collision involving an overturned semi-truck near East Hannibal on Sunday, October 18.
The crash reportedly occurred on Interstate 72 near milepost four at around 4:20 a.m. that morning. According to reports from the Illinois State Police, 43-year-old Roberta V. Montenegro Perrusquia was driving a 2017 Freightliner truck tractor semi-trailer westbound on the highway at the time of the crash. For unknown reasons, the driver failed to negotiate a curve and over-corrected, causing the truck to overturn.
Both Perrusquia and her passenger, 49-year-old Ronald R. Whalen of Palm Bay, Florida, were injured in the crash. Both injured parties were transported to a medical facility for the treatment of sustained injuries. No further information on the accident is currently available.
An ongoing investigation into the accident is currently underway.
