Decatur, IL (October 14, 2020) – Three men reportedly suffered life-threatening injuries after being involved in a collision with a semi-truck in Decatur on Monday morning, October 12.
The site of the crash was reportedly located near the intersection of US-51 and Elwin Road. Troopers were called to the site of the collision at around 9:30 a.m. that morning. Local reports revealed that a GMC Straight Truck was traveling east on Elwin Road while a semi-truck was traveling southbound on US-51.
For unknown reasons, the truck collided with the front passenger side of the semi-truck while crossing the intersection. The 23-year-old Granite City man driving the truck was airlifted for the treatment of life-threatening injuries. Two other passengers in the vehicle were taken by ambulance in critical condition.
No other injuries were reported. An ongoing investigation into the accident is underway.
