Chicago, IL (October 23, 2020) – Two officers from the Chicago Police Department were injured after their patrol vehicle was struck in the Chicago area on Wednesday, October 21.
The collision reportedly occurred on Interstate 290 on the city’s Near West Side. The collision occurred near Ogden Avenue at around 11:20 a.m. that morning. The patrol car was hit in the left lane of the interstate by a vehicle that veered from the right lane.
The impact caused the patrol car to collide with a concrete median on the highway. Both the driver and passenger in the vehicle were hospitalized for the treatment of sustained injuries. The vehicle reportedly fled the scene following the accident.
No further information on the crash has been provided. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is currently underway.
