Chicago, IL (October 9, 2020) – On Wednesday, October 7, three Chicago police officers were struck by a sport-utility vehicle while conducting a traffic stop on Chicago’s South Side.

The officers reportedly stopped a driver at around 11 a.m. when 30-year-old Dawn Moore pulled up to the scene, located at the 10500 block of S. State Street, claiming that she knew the other driver. Moore demanded that the driver be released. Moore was then told to leave the scene as she was blocking traffic on the roadway.

Moore then drove her 2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon into the squad car and attempted to run over an officer. Allegedly, Moore proceeded to make a U-turn and hit another patrol vehicle before driving away. Three police vehicles were damaged and three officers were hospitalized for the treatment of sustained injuries.

Moore was arrested and charged with aggravated assault of an officer, aggravated battery to an officer, and criminal damage to property.

An ongoing investigation is underway.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
