Chicago, IL (October 22, 2020) – A police officer suffered injuries after being involved in a crash with another vehicle in the Little Village neighborhood in Chicago on Wednesday morning, October 21.
Initial reports revealed that the crash occurred near the intersection of Pulaski Road and 24th Street. At the time of the crash, the officer was reportedly traveling in a patrol vehicle with its emergency lights activated. At around 8:15 a.m, the officer was traveling through the intersection when it was struck by an oncoming driver.
The driver reportedly ran a red light and crashed into the patrol car. The officer suffered injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for the treatment of leg pain. The 59-year-old driver of the other vehicle was cited for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle and disregarding a red light.
An ongoing investigation into the accident is underway.
