Chicago, IL (October 15, 2020) – On Wednesday morning, October 14, a Chicago police officer was injured in a collision on the city’s South Side.
The crash reportedly occurred on Interstate 57 SB near Wentworth Avenue at around 3:10 a.m. that morning. The officer was reportedly driving in the centerline of the highway when a vehicle in the right lane made a lane change and hit the rear of the officer’s patrol vehicle. The impact caused both vehicles to lose control and leave the roadway.
Both vehicles came to a rest on the embankment to the right of the interstate. The officer was taken to a hospital for the treatment of sustained injuries. No further information on the crash is currently available.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is being made by local law enforcement officials.
