Antioch, IL (October 19, 2020) – On Saturday, October 17, a Round Lake man was killed and three others were injured following a collision in Antioch.
Local reports revealed that the crash occurred near the intersection of IL-173 and US-45 at around 4:05 p.m. that afternoon. Two vehicles were involved in the crash, and both sustained significant damage. Local sources found that a Dodge Caliber and a Ford Taurus were both traveling northbound on US-45 at the time of the crash.
The 39-year-old Round Lake man driving the Ford attempted to pass the Dodge. For unknown reasons, the Dodge, driven by a 23-year-old Bristol man, swerved toward the Ford, causing it to veer into the southbound lanes of the highway. The Ford then lost control, overturned, and struck the Dodge.
The driver of the Ford was ejected in the accident. The ejected driver was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Illinois where he was later pronounced dead. Two passengers in the Ford were also hospitalized. The driver of the Dodge was taken to St. Catherine’s Hospital in Kenosha, Wisconsin for treatment.
An ongoing investigation into the accident is underway.
