Willow Springs, IL (September 14, 2020) – One person was killed and at least three others suffered injuries after a multi-vehicle collision in Willow Springs on Saturday, September 12.

According to the Illinois Police Department, the accident reportedly occurred on Interstate 294 near milepost 22.25 at around 12 p.m. A black Chevrolet Impala was reportedly driving at a high rate of speed down the highway when it lost control and sideswiped a Volkswagen Jetta. This caused the Impala to veer left and collide with a concrete median on the highway.

The Impala then launched over the barrier and struck a northbound Ford F-150 on the roadway. The car then hit a Hyundai Elantra traveling behind the Ford that attempted to swerve to avoid the accident. Lastly, a Honda CR-V collided head-on with the Impala and hit a nearby box-truck.

The 64-year-old female passenger of the Honda was taken to a nearby hospital where she was later pronounced dead. Both the drivers of the Impala and the Honda were transported to a medical facility for treatment, and the driver of the box-truck was also injured.

An ongoing investigation into the crash is currently in progress.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
