White Co, IL (September 17, 2020) – A Shobonier man suffered injuries after being involved in a collision in White County on Monday afternoon, September 14.
The collision reportedly occurred on Interstate 64 near the border of Illinois and Indiana. According to reports from the Illinois State Police, the accident involved a semi-truck and another vehicle. At the time fo the crash, Kenneth Helton of Shobonier, Illinois was traveling eastbound in the right lane of the highway.
For unknown reasons, the big rig veered onto the right shoulder before crossing both eastbound lanes. The 18-wheeler entered the path of a vehicle driven by 24-year-old Bobby Green of Louisville, Kentucky. Helton’s semi overturned onto its passenger side and came to rest in the median.
Green swerved in order to avoid the accident. Helton was transported to a nearby medical facility for the treatment of sustained injuries.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.
Our thoughts are with Kenneth Helton and his family at this time. We hope for a full recovery.
18-Wheeler Accidents in Illinois

When you pass a big rig on the highway, it is natural to be overcome with feelings of anxiety. That sensation is because it is well known that these massive vehicles can inflict catastrophic injuries in the event of a collision, especially for those traveling in smaller passenger cars. Semi-trucks were responsible for around 11,000 car accidents reported in the state of Illinois in 2014. These accidents were involved in around 10% of deadly collisions across the state that year.
Large semi-trucks can cause catastrophic injuries in the event of a collision with a passenger vehicle. Truck-driver inexperience is a leading cause of deadly commercial vehicle accidents as companies are trying to fill positions due to a shortage of drivers, and this negligence contributes to serious crashes involving 18-wheelers and commercial vehicles. When the negligence of another driver results in a crash, injured victims should consult with an Illinois trucking injury lawyer in order to recover lost compensation by pursuing a personal injury claim.
