Washington Co, IL – Carmela Alvaredo-Linares Killed in Darmstadt Crash

Washington Co, IL (September 3, 2020) – On Monday, August 31, a Lenzburg woman was killed after being involved in a collision with a field sprayer in Washington County near the intersection of Darmstadt and Washington County Line Road. 

Officials from the Washington County Coroner’s Office were dispatched to the site of the deadly accident at around 11:51 a.m. that morning. According to initial reports, 52-year-old Carmela Alvaredo-Linares from Lenzburg, Illinois was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Local sources reported that Alvaredo-Linares was driving northbound on Washington County Line Road at the time of the crash. For unknown reasons, the van entered the intersection and was struck on the driver’s side by an agricultural field sprayer being driven by a local farmer on Coal Mine Road. The driver of the sprayer was uninjured. 

Alvaredo-Linares’ autopsy revealed that she died due to head trauma resulting from the accident. An ongoing investigation into the crash is underway.
