Washburn, IL (September 30, 2020) – A two-vehicle collision involving a semi-truck in Woodford County left one dead on Tuesday, September 29.
According to a statement from the Woodford County Coroner’s Office, the collision occurred that afternoon on IL-89. For unknown reasons, the 18-year-old driver of a passenger vehicle traveled through an intersection and struck a semi-trailer hauling grain. The teenage driver of the passenger car was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the commercial truck was transported by Life Flight to a nearby medical facility. Both drivers involved in the accident are reportedly from the central Illinois region. The identities of the involved parties have not been reported at this time.
An ongoing investigation into the accident is currently underway.
