Springfield, IL (September 13, 2020) – Three people reportedly suffered injuries after a rear-end crash in Sangamon County, Illinois on Friday, September 11.
The crash occurred on Interstate 55 (US-36) at around 2:02 p.m. that afternoon. Two vehicles were involved in the accident, including a black Dodge. The Dodge was reportedly merging onto the highway from S. Grand Avenue at the time of the accident.
According to the Illinois State Police, the black Dodge was slowing down to yield to traffic on the highway when it was rear-ended by a white Dodge. The white Dodge reportedly crossed multiple lanes of traffic before colliding with a concrete barrier.
The 29-year-old Springfield woman driving the white Dodge and her 29-year-old female passenger were both injured and transported to a nearby medical facility. The 23-year-old Greenville man driving the black Dodge was also hospitalized for treatment.
An ongoing investigation into the crash is currently in progress.
