Motorcycle Accidents in Illinois
Riding on a motorcycle is a wonderful pastime that offers a unique sense of freedom to riders. However, with this freedom comes the increased risk of a serious crash. Motorcyclists are much more vulnerable to the risks of the road and are more likely to suffer fatal injuries in a crash. Of the 311,679 vehicle collisions reported in Illinois in 2017, only 1.1% involved motorcycle accidents. However, motorcyclists were involved in 15.4% of deadly collisions and 3.5% of injury crashes in the state that year.
Motorcycles are much smaller than other motor vehicles and lack adequate protection for their riders, leaving them at serious risk of injury, and many drivers are constantly distracted by passengers, other drivers, and technology, making them more likely to ignore a motorcyclist and cause a devastating accident. Motorcyclists are at greater risk of suffering life-threatening injuries in the event of an accident, and the resulting damages can change a victim’s life forever. It is important to have someone on your side aggressively representing your rights after being injured in an Illinois motorcycle collision.
