Pittsfield, IL – Sharon Brannan Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on US-54

Pittsfield, IL (September 20, 2020) – A woman from Pittsfield died after being involved in a multi-vehicle accident on US-54 on Friday, September 18. 

The crash reportedly occurred at around 3:30 p.m. about a mile north of Pittsfield, according to reports from the Illinois State Police. Initial reports revealed that 70-year-old Sharon K. Brannan was traveling southbound on the highway when her vehicle sideswiped a truck pulling a livestock trailer. Brannan’s vehicle proceeded to collide head-on with another car driven by 53-year-old Debra K. Webb of Jacksonville, Illinois. 

Brannan was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by responding paramedics. Webb and a passenger in Brannan’s vehicle, 78-year-old Gary K. Brannan of Pittsfield, were hospitalized for the treatment of sustained injuries. No further updates on the crash have been provided at this time. 

An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
