Newton, IL (September 9, 2020) – A two-vehicle accident in a rural area of Whiteside County on Sunday, September 6, resulted in the death of a woman from Erie, Illinois.
Initial reports revealed that the accident occurred near the intersection of Burns Road and Albany Road at around 6:45 p.m. that evening. According to local sources, 35-year-old Nathan D. Bearsley of Erie was traveling south on Albany Road when he crossed the centerline. Bearsley collided head-on with a vehicle driven by 76-year-old Joyce M. Kaecker of Erie.
Responding emergency units pronounced Kaecker dead at the scene of the collision. Bearsley was transported by helicopter to MedForce to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City for treatment. Bearsley was cited for improper lane usage.
An ongoing investigation into the crash is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
