Illinois Motorcycle Collisions

Motorcyclists face a unique set of dangers when traveling on the roads of Illinois. Despite only making up a small fraction of vehicles across the state, motorcyclists are involved in an alarmingly high number of fatal collisions. In 2017, there were 311,679 vehicle collisions reported in Illinois. Of these accidents, only 1.1% involved motorcycles. However, motorcycle accidents were involved in nearly 15.4% of fatal crashes and 3.5% of collisions resulting in injuries that year.
Motorcycles are much smaller than other motor vehicles and lack adequate protection for their riders, leaving them at serious risk of injury, and many drivers are constantly distracted by passengers, other drivers, and technology, making them more likely to ignore a motorcyclist and cause a devastating accident. Motorcyclists are at greater risk of suffering life-threatening injuries in the event of an accident, and the resulting damages can change a victim’s life forever. It is important to have someone on your side aggressively representing your rights after being injured in an Illinois motorcycle accident.
