Monroe Co, IL (September 4, 2020) – Two men were injured after a collision involving two vehicles in Monroe County on Monday, August 31. The accident reportedly took place near the intersection of IL-3 and I-255 at around 10:15 a.m. that morning.

According to initial reports, 23-year-old Colton Wood from Sandoval, Illinois was traveling in a construction zone on the northbound lanes of IL-3 in a 2019 white Bobcat mini excavator at the time of the crash. At the same time, 54-year-old William King from Marissa, Illinois was driving a 2006 white Chevrolet pickup truck on IL-3 NB in the right lane.

King reportedly failed to notice the Bobcat and collided with its front loader bucket. Both King and Wood were transported to a nearby medical facility for the treatment of sustained injuries. Wood was cited for failure to yield the right of way.

An ongoing investigation into the accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.

Our thoughts are with Colton Wood, William King, and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
