Medora, IL (September 24, 2020) – A crash in Macoupin County on Thursday, September 24, left one man dead and another seriously injured.
Local reports revealed that the crash occurred at 4:37 a.m. that morning on IL-267 at IL-111 in the Medora area. The Illinois State Police reported that a GMC pickup truck was already lying sideways due to a previous crash in the area. A Kia passenger car was traveling north on IL-267 and collided with the passenger side of the pickup.
The Kia proceeded to leave the roadway and come to rest in a nearby ditch. The drivers were the sole occupants of both vehicles, and both were airlifted to nearby hospitals in critical condition. The driver of the Kia, 28-year-old Matthew E. Grizzle of Fidelity, Illinois, was later pronounced dead.
No further information on the accident has been provided. An ongoing investigation into the collision is underway.
