McHenry Co, IL (September 11, 2020) – Two people sustained injuries after being involved in a collision with a semi-truck in McHenry County on Friday, September 4, at around 8:45 p.m. that evening.

The crash occurred at the 1300 block of IL-47 outside of Woodstock, Illinois. According to local authorities, 21-year-old Gabriella Ortiz was traveling south on Route 47 in a 2012 Chevrolet Cruz at the time of the crash. For unknown reasons, Ortiz’s vehicle crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a 2005 Western Star truck-tractor.

Both vehicles left the roadway, and the semi-truck collided with a tree and caught fire. Ortiz had to be extricated from her vehicle and was taken to Javon Bea Hospital in Riverside, Illinois for treatment. Another occupant in the vehicle was taken to Northwestern Hospital in McHenry, Illinois.

No other injuries were reported. Ortiz was cited for driving under the influence. An ongoing investigation into the crash is currently in progress.

Our thoughts are with Gabriella Ortiz, the other injured victim, and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
