Lebanon, IL (September 19, 2020) – On Thursday afternoon, September 17, local sources revealed that a man was fatally struck in Lebanon on US-50.
The identity of the deceased victim was later revealed by the St. Clair County Corner’s Office as 66-year-old Robert McCabe. McCabe was transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital for the treatment of life-threatening injuries. He was later pronounced dead at around 4:30 p.m.
At this time, the cause of the accident has not been reported. No charges have been filed at this time. Multiple lanes on the roadway were blocked and motorists were diverted from the scene while investigators and emergency responders were present.
An ongoing investigation into the deadly pedestrian accident is being managed by the Illinois State Police’s accident reconstruction unit.
