Initial sources revealed that the crash occurred on Interstate 55 near US-30. The trooper was reportedly pulled over in the left lane of the highway of I-55 NB in order to aid a stalled vehicle. The trooper had his emergency lights engaged when they were rear-ended by a northbound vehicle.
