Jefferson Co, IL (September 6, 2020) – A two-vehicle collision in Jefferson County on Saturday, September 5, resulted in one person sustaining injuries. The collision occurred on Interstate 57 NB near milepost 96.
Initial reports revealed that 62-year-old Flossie Junior from Hot Springs, Arkansas was traveling northbound on the highway in a 2008 maroon Honda Accord at the time of the crash. At the same time, 41-year-old Manjit Grewal of Brampton, Ontario was traveling on I-57 NB in a 2020 white Freightliner truck tractor-trailer combination in the passing lane.
Grewal reportedly failed to see Junior and collided with his vehicle when merging back into the driving lane. This caused Junior to lose control of his vehicle and spin out on the highway. Junior was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for the treatment of sustained injuries.
No other injuries were reported. An ongoing investigation into the crash is currently in progress.
Our thoughts are with Flossie Junior and his family at this time. We hope for a full recovery.
Semi-Truck Accidents in Illinois

Large commercial trucks are a crucial part of the transportation network in the United States, and there are millions of these vehicles traveling on roadways across the country. Truckers are often pushed to meet tight deadlines, causing them to make reckless actions behind the wheel of these big rigs. According to data from the Illinois Department of Transportation, there were 12,267 trucking accidents reported across the state in 2018. Of these collisions, 106 resulted in fatalities and 2,075 resulted in injuries.
Large semi-trucks can cause catastrophic injuries in the event of a collision with a passenger vehicle. Truck-driver inexperience is a leading cause of deadly commercial vehicle accidents as companies are trying to fill positions due to a shortage of drivers, and this negligence contributes to serious crashes involving 18-wheelers and commercial vehicles. When the negligence of another driver results in a crash, injured victims should consult with an Illinois trucking injury lawyer in order to recover lost compensation by pursuing a personal injury claim.
