Fulton Co, IL – Three Injured in Head-On Collision on IL-9

Fulton Co, IL (September 17, 2020) – A car accident on Thursday afternoon, September 15, in Fulton County left three people injured. 

The accident reportedly occurred on Illinois State Route 9 east of Elliot Road at around 12:09 p.m. Initial sources revealed that three vehicles were involved in the accident. A 2003 Saturn was reportedly traveling westbound on the highway when it crossed the centerline for unknown reasons and struck two other eastbound vehicles, a 2012 Chevrolet and a 2016 Buick. 

The 17-year-old driver of the Saturn sustained serious injuries and was taken to

a nearby hospital for treatment. The drivers of the other two vehicles, an 86-year-old woman from Canton, Illinois and a 68-year-old woman from Pekin, Illinois, were also injured and hospitalized. All lanes on the highway were shut down until around 2:30 p.m. that day.

An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is currently underway.
