Franklin Co, IL (September 6, 2020) – A crash involving six vehicles left one person injured in Franklin County on Friday, September 4. Local sources revealed that the accident occurred on Interstate 57 near mile marker 67 at around 9:15 a.m. that morning.
Initial reports revealed that a 2010 silver Ford traveling southbound on the highway came to a stop on the right shoulder after a tire blow out. The driver of the vehicle, 18-year-old Mark Williams from South Bend, Indiana, entered the right lane of the highway at a low speed.
This resulted in a chain-reaction accident as vehicles attempted to avoid the Ford. Three semi-trucks and two passenger cars, a Chevy and a Honda, were involved in the collision. The 74-year-old Robinson man driving the Chevy was transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
Williams was charged with improper lane usage, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and not having a valid driver’s license. An ongoing investigation into the crash is currently in progress.
Our thoughts are with the injured victim and his family at this time. We hope for a full recovery.
