Chicago, IL – Two Officers Injured in Red Light Crash on Wentworth Ave

Chicago, IL (September 7, 2020) – Two Chicago police officers sustained injuries after being struck by a driver while crossing an intersection in the Englewood area on Saturday, September 5. 

Initial reports revealed that the accident occurred at the 6300 block of Wentworth Avenue at around 9:45 p.m. that evening. A vehicle reportedly ran a red light and collided with a police squad car. The cause of the accident is not known at this time. 

Both officers in the vehicle were transported to Little Company of Mary Hospital for the treatment of sustained injuries. The driver who ran the red light was taken into custody for questioning. It was not reported if any charges were filed. 

An ongoing investigation into the cause of the collision is being managed by the Chicago Police Department. No further updates are currently available.
