Chicago, IL (September 19, 2020) – A pedestrian was reportedly killed after being involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident in the Near West Side of Chicago on Friday morning, September 18.
The Illinois State Police reported that the accident occurred on Interstate 290 near Ashland Avenue at around 12:40 a.m. The car that struck the victim fled the scene of the accident. Soon after the crash, authorities found a vehicle on the side of the highway that had been reported stolen.
A juvenile suspect was taken into custody by the Chicago Police Department in connection with the deadly pedestrian accident. Multiple lanes on the Eisenhower Expressway WB were closed while investigators were present. At this time, the identity of the injured party has not been reported.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
