Chicago, IL – One Killed in High-Speed Pursuit on Halsted St

Chicago, IL (September 4, 2020) – One person was killed and another critically injured following a high-speed collision in the Auburn Gresham area of Chicago on Wednesday, September 2. 

According to local reports, Chicago police officers attempted to pull over a black sedan at the 8000 block of S. Halsted Street at around 3:40 p.m. The vehicle fled westbound on 80th Street. 

The sedan collided with a gray car driven by a 57-year-old woman traveling north on Halsted Street and then struck a tan sedan that was pulled over to the side of the road. Three occupants were inside the tan sedan at the time of the impact. 

One of the occupants was transported to Comer’s Hospital where they were later pronounced dead. Another occupant was taken to Comer’s Hospital where they are currently in critical condition. The 45-year-old driver was taken to the University of Chicago Hospital for treatment. 

The driver responsible for the accident was taken into custody, and charges are currently pending. An ongoing investigation into the crash is being managed by the Chicago Police Department.
