Chicago, IL – Cyclist Killed in Collision at Damen Ave & Warren Blvd

Chicago, IL (September 12, 2020) – A collision on the Near West Side of Chicago resulted in the death of a cyclist on Wednesday, September 9. 

Initial reports revealed that the crash occurred near the intersection of W. Warren Boulevard and N. Damen Avenue at around 7:50 a.m. that morning. A 28-year-old cyclist was reportedly traveling south of N. Damen Avenue when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle on W. Warren Boulevard. 

The cyclist was transported to Stroger Hospital for the treatment of critical injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after. The identity of the deceased party has not been reported at this time. His autopsy revealed he died due to blunt force injuries sustained in the crash. The driver involved in the crash was present at the scene and told authorities that he was unable to stop at a yellow light at the intersection. 

An ongoing investigation into the accident is currently underway.
