Deadly Semi-Truck Accidents in Illinois

Champaign Co, IL - John Wilson Killed in Trucking Accident on I-57

Semi-truck accidents can be detrimental and are known to result in life-threatening injuries for those involved. Each year, there are more than 500,000 collisions involving 18-wheelers reported across the country. On average, 500 people traveling in big rigs are killed each year. As of August 3, 2020, there were already 56 fatal trucking accidents in Illinois. According to the Illinois Department of Transportation, there were 106 fatal trucking accidents reported in the state in 2018.

Large semi-trucks can cause catastrophic injuries in the event of a collision with a passenger vehicle. Truck-driver inexperience is a leading cause of deadly commercial vehicle accidents as companies are trying to fill positions due to a shortage of drivers, and this negligence contributes to serious crashes involving 18-wheelers and commercial vehicles. When the negligence of another driver results in a crash, injured victims should consult with an Illinois trucking injury lawyer in order to recover lost compensation by pursuing a personal injury claim.
