Ava, IL – Jeremy Pierce Killed in ATV Collision on Campground Rd

Ava, IL (September 6, 2020) – A man was killed and another was injured following a collision involving to all-terrain vehicles on Friday evening, September 4. The deadly accident took place south of Ava in Jackson County at around 10 p.m. 

Initial reports revealed that 42-year-old Joshua Pierce was driving a utility-terrain vehicle southbound on Campground Road at the time of the accident. The vehicle reportedly collided with an ATV driven by his brother, 44-year-old Jeremy Pierce. 

Joshua Pierce sustained injuries and was transported by helicopter to a hospital in St. Louis, Illinois for treatment. Jeremy Pierce was pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics. The factors contributing to the accident have not been reported at this time. 

No further updates on the accident have been provided at this time. An ongoing investigation into the crash is being managed by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Accident Reconstruction Unit.
