Summit, IL – DUI Crash with Injuries on Fayette Rd

Summit, IL (August 8, 2020) – There were reported injuries following a vehicle collision east of Effingham, Illinois on Thursday evening, August 6. The crash took place in Summit Township on Fayette Road at around 8:23 p.m. 

Local authorities were notified of a collision involving two vehicles. According to initial reports from law enforcement officials, 38-year-old Amanda Youngblood of Effingham was traveling on the roadway when she lost control of her vehicle. Youngblood entered into the path of another car driven by 42-year-old Elizabeth Fitzgerald, also from Effingham. The two vehicles collided head-on. 

A passenger in Fitzgerald’s vehicle, an unidentified teenager from Edgewood, Illinois, was injured and transported to HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment. At this time, no updates on their condition have been provided. Youngblood was cited by the Effingham County Sheriff’s Department for multiple charges, including driving under the influence, failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision, and failure to remain in her lane of travel. 

At this time, no further updates on the crash have been provided. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the collision is being managed by the ECSD.
