Deadly Motorcycle Accidents in Illinois

Stonington, IL - Larry Yochum Killed in Motorcycle Crash on N 1900 E Rd

Motorcyclists are much more exposed to the threat of serious injury in the event of a collision. Nearly 75% of motorcycle crashes involve another vehicle, and nearly two-thirds of multi-vehicle motorcycle accidents are due to other drivers who fail to yield the right of way to the rider. According to data from the Illinois Department of Transportation, motorcycle crashes were only involved in roughly 1.1% of reported crashes in the state in 2017. However, motorcycle accidents accounted for nearly 15.4% of fatal collisions that year.
