Riverside, IL (August 28, 2020) – An 18-year-old woman was cited following a two-vehicle collision in the Riverside area that left three people injured on Wednesday, August 26.

Initial reports revealed that the accident occurred near the intersection of S. 1st Avenue and Forest Avenue. Responding officials found two heavily damaged vehicles at the intersection. The resulting injuries were reportedly serious, and one victim was trapped inside a vehicle.

An 18-year-old woman from Prospect Heights, Illinois was traveling south on First Avenue and turning onto Forest Avenue when she collided with another vehicle traveling north on First Avenue. The crash caused both vehicles to be pushed onto the sidewalk. Three pedestrians jumped out of the way to avoid being injured in the collision.

The driver was cited for failure to yield at an intersection, failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and having no driver’s license. An ongoing investigation into the crash is currently in progress.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
