Macomb, IL (August 27, 2020) – A Colchester woman sustained injuries following a collision involving a semi-truck and another vehicle near Macomb in McDonough County on Wednesday, August 26.

The accident reportedly occurred that afternoon near the intersection of IL-110 (US-136) and S. Quailwalk Road at around 3 p.m. Initial reports revealed that a semi-truck driven by 70-year-old Eliezer Bram from Marshfield, Missouri was traveling east on the highway at the time of the accident. At the same time, 31-year-old Holly Parker from Colchester, Illinois was traveling east on US-136 in a separate vehicle.

Authorities reported that Bram made an unsafe lane change and collided with Parker’s vehicle. Parker was transported to a nearby medical facility for the treatment of sustained injuries. Bram was cited by local authorities for his role in the accident.

No further updates are currently available. Local law enforcement officials are currently investigating the cause of the accident.

Our thoughts are with Holly Parker and her family at this time. We hope for a full recovery.

Trucking Accidents in Illinois

Macomb, IL - Holly Parker Injured in Semi Crash on IL-110

In the event of a crash, a fully loaded semi-truck can inflict tremendous damage, especially for those traveling in passenger cars. The overwhelming majority of fatalities involved in 18-wheeler accidents are passenger-vehicle occupants. Deadly trucking accidents are on the rise in Illinois while other types of traffic fatalities are on the decline. As of August 3, 2020, there were 56 semi-truck fatalities reported in Illinois, compared to only 22 at the same time last year. Nearly 11,000 collisions in the state each year involve commercial vehicles, accounting for roughly 10% of fatal Illinois car accidents.

Large semi-trucks can cause catastrophic injuries in the event of a collision with a passenger vehicle. Truck-driver inexperience is a leading cause of deadly commercial vehicle accidents as companies are trying to fill positions due to a shortage of drivers, and this negligence contributes to serious crashes involving 18-wheelers and commercial vehicles. When the negligence of another driver results in a crash, injured victims should consult with an Illinois trucking injury lawyer in order to recover lost compensation by pursuing a personal injury claim.
