Lincolnshire, IL – One Killed in Pileup Crash on Tri-State Tollway

Lincolnshire, IL (August 3, 2020) – One person was killed and multiple others injured following a multi-vehicle collision near Lincolnshire. The accident occurred on Sunday, August 2, and was reported by local sources that afternoon at around 3:28 p.m. The crash occurred on the southbound lanes of the Tri-State Tollway (Interstate 94) near Half Day Road (IL-22). 

The Illinois State Police reported that a vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed on the highway when the driver lost control. The car collided with another vehicle and overturned multiple times before coming to a stop on the left shoulder. The second vehicle came to a rest in the travel lanes. 

One of the occupants of the first vehicle was ejected in the accident and suffered fatal injuries. They were pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics. Another occupant was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency responders. They were transported to a nearby hospital for the treatment of sustained injuries. 

Two of the three occupants of the second vehicle were transported to a medical facility for treatment, and the third was treated for injuries at the scene. The area of the crash was closed while authorities were at the scene. 

No further updates are available at this time. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is currently in progress.
