Lake Forest, IL (August 4, 2020) – Six people were reportedly killed following a collision near Lake Forest. The Illinois State Police reported that the accident took place on Sunday afternoon at around 12:45 p.m. One of the deceased victims was identified as 21-year-old Kevin Perez from Kewanee, Illinois.

ISP officials reported that Perez was a passenger in a Toyota Camry that collided with another vehicle. The site of the crash was located on Interstate 94 (Tri-State Tollway). Perez was one of six people who were killed in the crash, and multiple others reportedly sustained injuries.

Initial reports revealed that the driver of the Toyota lost control of the vehicle, entering the path of another vehicle. The vehicles collided, causing the Camry to overturn multiple times before coming to a stop on the left shoulder. The driver was ejected in the collision. Perez was also ejected and pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by responding paramedics.

Another passenger in the vehicle was trapped inside, extricated by emergency responders, and transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment. Two of the three occupants of the other vehicle were also hospitalized.

At this time, no further updates on the crash are available. An ongoing investigation into the accident is being managed by the ISP.

We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the families of Kevin Perez and the deceased victims at this time.

Deadly Rollover Crashes in Chicago

Lake Forest, IL - Kevin Perez Killed in Collision on I-94

Rollover crashes are some of the most fatal types of vehicle collisions. Of the nearly 9.1 million crashes involving passenger vehicles in 2010, only around 2.1% involved rollover accidents. However, rollovers were involved in nearly 35% of fatal passenger-vehicle collisions that year. An estimated 7,600 people were killed in rollovers that year, and around 69% of those killed were unrestrained at the time of the accident. Unrestrained occupants risk being ejected and severely injured in the event of a rollover collision.

The grief and devastation of losing a loved one due to another’s negligence are nearly unbearable. Surviving family members often take on damages resulting from the accident, and they may be able to recover lost compensation by pursuing a wrongful death claim with the help of an experienced Illinois personal injury attorney. In an Illinois wrongful death claim, a representative of the decedent’s estate — usually a close family member — seeks damages from those at fault for the person’s death to obtain compensation for damages.

At Kent M. Lucaccioni, Ltd., we understand the grief and pain that families experience when a family member is killed.
